Yesterday in South Ken on my way to the Imperial Chinese Robes exhibition at the V&A I walked past The Sampler. A friend of mine has been talking about The Sampler for quite some time, so I had to step inside and have a look. The concept of the store is brilliant, basically you buy a sampler card and top it up with cash after which you can sample the wine on display, or as described by the owners "Like an Oyster card but fun". The wine on display yesterday was in the range from £10 to £150+ a bottle.
The wine I liked the most yesterday was Hobbs Shiraz Viognier 2004, on sale for £56 a bottle and pictured above. However, as I was on my way to the exhibition I only sampled wine and did not buy any. But I think that I will head over to The Sampler in Islington, which is just round the corner from where I live, the next time I want to get some exquisite wine - and my advice to you is to do the same.
