Smithfield Bar & Grill

Went out for a somewhat improvised dinner with work last night, and we ended up at Smithfield Bar & Kitchen. The restaurant is located just across the road from the Smithfield Meat Market. I really like the atmosphere around Smithfield, however, by some strange reason I very rarely end up in this part of London.

We ordered an arrangement of starters, and my favorite was by far the calamari and the chicken liver. The sauce in which the chicken liver came was very rich in flavor and it was a true taste sensation to dip a it of bread in the sauce.

To drink we had a bottle of Louis Bernard les Galets du Haut from Chateauneuf du Pape. The choice of wine was excellent, and the full taste made it a great combination to the meat.

For my main course I had the Fillet with a skewer of grilled garlic prawns. The fillet was delicious and of very good quality, but what really made an impression on my plate was the grilled prawns, which were very full in taste and quite meaty as well. The mushroom side made a very solid impression as well. The one dish that made the biggest impression was the Chateaubriand, which unfortunately was not ordered by me, but I managed to get a nice slice of it. This dish is made for sharing, so it could be a good thing to talk your company into having this dish.
